Furniture Zone’s online product catalogue had previously been hosted with a popular, UK based modular ecommerce provider. Modular ecommerce packages work pretty neat and easy. You make the payment and your site is up in a few minutes. These packages however come with a number of limitations, for example the number of products, static pages, bandwidth and web space. Very rarely do they offer personalised email @ your domain name. Also to mention, you do not get personalised service because your website installation and operations are done by pre-written scripts. 99% of the providers host your website on a cluster server that is running hundreds of similar websites at the same time. This not only reduces the loading speed of your website, but can also be banned from search engines if there are undesirable websites hosted on the same server. The concept fails to deliver online business successfully as you are forced to use the features that the template offers and cannot customise the website to precisely target your customers.

Mr. Kenneth Garrard (Owner, Furniture Zone) had tried and tested a premium package as mentioned above. After using the service for over a year he knew it was not working for his business. He had seen our poster at the Manchester Furniture Show 2008. We were among the few bespoke ecommerce solution providers that he had approached for revamping his online product catalogue. At Optimise Web, we had a detailed conversation with Ken and listed all his ideas, thoughts and requirements for the website. Based on the requirements list, we setup a demo website. We also gave him a quote that matched that of his earlier website provider.
Personalised Care
After a week of trying out the demo site, Ken got back to us and said, “I love it!” We got his domain pointed to our dedicated server and the website was up in a couple of days. The website was tuned and tweaked to fit Ken’s requirements. While the backend administrative interface is very easy to use, we were still on-hand to assist Ken through all stages of setting up his categories and products. There was a moment when Ken had setup a product and uploaded its image, but the image was not appearing on the website. While monitoring the website on a daily basis, we realised issue even before he could call us and we called him to point out the right way to upload the images. The template that he was using did not have a home page facility to showcase his latest products. We wrote a small module that would let him choose certain products as NEW and display them on the home page. Ken wanted to have a few personalised email addresses on his domain name. We created the email boxes and also sent a custom made help document on how to retrieve email using Windows Live Mail.

Our commitment doesn’t stop there. We keep a mirror copy of the website on our local machines and constantly monitor the online versions for security, performance and bugs. Ken is more than happy and satisfied by our service that comes at a very competitive price.
